MKD THERAPY

Client referred for therapy via personal injury firms
I provide specialised therapeutic support for clients referred by personal injury law firms who have experienced car accidents or workplace injuries and are pursuing compensation claims. I work with clients affected by trauma, anxiety, adjustment difficulties, and the psychological impact of physical injury, helping them stabilise, recover, and engage more effectively in their legal process. I offer reliable communication with legal teams, clear clinical documentation when required, and timely, professional care that supports both client wellbeing and the needs of personal injury claims.

What Clients Going Through Legal Proceedings Experience
Many clients going through legal proceedings face unique mental health challenges:
Vicarious Trauma
Repeated exposure to distressing case details, giving statements, or attending court hearings can create secondary trauma. You may experience intrusive thoughts, emotional numbness, or difficulty separating your case from personal life.
Long hours managing case documents, meeting deadlines, and prolonged perfectionism create sustained pressure that affects mental health and wellbeing.
The original incident (car accident, workplace injury, or domestic abuse) combined with reliving it throughout legal proceedings can have lasting psychological impact.
Court-Related Stress
High-stakes litigation, cross-examination pressure, and courtroom anxiety can contribute to chronic stress and burnout.

How EMDR Works for You
EMDR therapy is particularly effective for legal proceedings because it doesn't require detailed discussion of your case, respecting confidentiality while still processing trauma.
Works Efficiently
EMDR helps you address traumatic memories within 6-12 sessions, depending on the case being addressed.
Maintains Confidentiality
Your case depends on discretion. All sessions are completely confidential, and no information is disclosed to anyone except your employer or regulatory body.
Addresses Root Causes
Rather than just managing symptoms, EMDR helps reduce the emotional charge of memories so they no longer trigger distressing reactions.
Fits Your Schedule
Sessions available in-person in Preston or online via secure video call, making it easier to fit therapy around court dates and case commitments.
No Extended Leave Required
Unlike some therapeutic approaches, EMDR doesn't require time off work. You can continue your case whilst addressing underlying issues.
What to Expect in EMDR Sessions
Initial Consultation
We'll discuss what's brought you to therapy, your legal situation, and what you hope to achieve. This is also an opportunity to ask questions about the process and ensure EMDR is the right approach for you.
Preparation Phase
Before processing trauma, we'll establish coping strategies and ensure you feel safe and in control throughout the work.
Processing Phase
Using bilateral stimulation (eye movements or tactile methods), we'll help your brain reprocess distressing memories or experiences. You remain fully conscious and in control throughout.
Integration & Closure
Each session ends with grounding techniques to ensure you leave feeling stable and resourced, ready to return to your legal proceedings.
